About Us
Landis Computer's aim is to be a trustworthy, local company providing fast, expert computer services.
In an industry known for long on-hold times and unreturned phone calls, LC puts a high emphasis on you being able to connect with them when your need is urgent. “Just this past week we ran a report on our average response time for service orders and it was 1 hour,” Matt reports. LC consultants can also help you minimize the times you have urgent needs thru proactive network management plans.
LC accomplishes their ongoing goal to be experts by being focused on specific products, dedicated to ongoing training and industry certifications, and making knowledge gained available to all technicians. “If we can't provide expert service we prefer to recommend the project to a company that we know can,” Matt says.
Company History
What is now a 12 person company with clients in 30 states, started in the basement of Matt Landis' home in 1995.
1995 - Matt's interest in computers began when he started writing software for the (then already outdated) Tandy TRS-80 Model III business computer for his dad's auto dealership. Matt soon started Landis Computer as a part time venture to assist local businesses solve IT challenges: Install servers, support business management software and write custom business applications.
1998 - This soon not only became full time but required additional technicians to keep up with the demand. In 1998 Landis Computer hired it's first employee. Around this same time Landis Computer made another momentous decision: selecting Microsoft Windows Server instead of the, popular and established at the time, Novell Netware. This set Landis Computer on a course and partnership with Microsoft that would ultimately earn it the prestigeious Micrsoft Gold Certified Partner designation--the highest designation a Microsft Partner can achieve. Landis Computer has also become know for being expert in Microsoft technologies which has continued to the present.
2000 - Landis Computer grew and in 2000 needed a larger facility and moved to our current location on 1120 Division Hwy, Ephrata. This move allowed Landis Computer to expand, add more people and serve more customers. By this time Landis Computer had become a full service IT shop doing computer repairs, networking installation and service and business management software implementation and support. To ensure that expertise remained excellent Landis Computer began a tradition of promoting Microsoft certification for all technical people beginning with Matt earning the challenging Microsoft Certified System Engineer designation himself in 2001.
2003 - Since Landis Computer was started in 1995 it had supported an aging accounting software call Armor Advantage. More and more clients were requesting a Windows based accounting solution to replace their older DOS based systems. “We researched a dozen or more systems and worked with 4 different systems before we settled on Dynamics GP”, Matt notes. The wide industry support, myriad of add-ons and affordable customizability has made this a decision Matt has not regretted. Landis Computer has focused on Microsoft Dynamics GP and now has clients and even resellers across the USA looking to them for consulting, implementation and customizations. In 2009 the LC GP blog http://dynamicssmallbusiness.blogspot.com was among the top Dynamics GP blogs.
2005 - When it was time to replace the company telephone system that could no longer be expanded Matt had a hunch that the future of telephone and communication systems was on the same servers that ran business applications. Landis Computer installed the Linux based Asterisk phone system.
